KAFTANS IN THE WORKPLACE
Personally, I am open to the increase of workplaces adopting a more relaxed approach to their employee dress code. One of the main reasons includes not having to spend money on separate office attire. And another reason is being able to show off more of my style throughout the working week!
Now, I do understand that this flexibility varies between workplaces, Job types and industries. Also, there are items of clothing that probably will not get the approval of your boss (so perhaps keep those thongs and high cut denim shorts for the weekend).
One style of clothing that I believe is an underrated item for the workplace is the modern day resortwear kaftan! These gorgeous pieces often come with eye catching graphics, beautiful embellishments and endless ways to be styled due to its versatility. Yet, we often keep our kaftans for the weekend, summer getaways or special occasions.
I decided to make it my challenge to incorporate a kaftan or kaftan linked piece into each of my 5 days of work outfits
DAY 1 MANIC MONDAYS
As mentioned, the best part about silk kaftans are the versatility that comes with most pieces. I tucked the PANAMA cross front mini dress into a pair of tailored black pants and slightly rolled up the cuffs of the ankles. Adding a simple pair of black pointed heels adds a more professional feel making you ready to tackle the working week.
DAY 2- POPS OF COLOUR TO BEAT THE TUESDAY BLUES
The CABO SAN LUCAS Cold Shoulder Top incorporates so much colour and vibrancy, it’s a fantastic print to inject colour to a normally dull workwear outfit. I tucked it into a leather pencil skirt for a modern feel and added a simple white blazer to polish up the outfit. For shoes, simple and professional is key when dressing for the workplace. A pair of flats or heels in a neutral tone is the go-to option.
DAY 3 - HUMP DAY WEDNESDAY
Print dresses are a fantastic option to wear to work. However, it can be tricky to make sure you still look polished and not about to hit the dancefloor at 9am in the morning. The best way to evoke professionalism is breaking up the print with solid pieces. Using a leather jacket, the outfit becomes more subtle, which I have finished off with a pair of black lace up point flats. A blazer is another alternative for this.
DAY 4- WORKDAY THURSDAY!
Does this print look familiar? Well that’s because I am wearing the PANAMA cross from mini dress in its original form-a dress. The print is gorgeous and definitely eye catching. It’s quite a summary dress so I decided to pair it with an oversized tailored black vest to take from ‘weekend’ to ‘workplace’. Pair it with black ankle boots or a pair on heels if you want to dress it up a bit more.
DAY 5- FRI-YAY! OFFICE TO AFTER WORK DRINKS!
Friday has arrived! Usually this means a more relaxed approach to your work outfit. I have always been obsessed with black ankle boots as it adds an edge to any outfit (which is why they often make an appearance ion my outfits for a range of occasions). Teamed with a plain grey cotton dress, I now have a foundation outfit to add a pop of colour. Here I have used a flowing pink sleeveless robe kaftan. This head turning piece is both stylish and comfortable-the perfect final touch for your Friday outfit.
